When something isn’t right with your car, it can be very frustrating. Being able to quickly fix the problem is a great option.
 
In the last article, we discussed how to replace a leaky radiator on your own. Now, you will learn how you can replace car door handles if something should go wrong. This is more than possible to do on your own, as there are places you can buy replacement handles for your vehicle, meaning you won’t have to go to visit a mechanic, which can be very expensive.
 
The Dangers of faulty handles
We all remember when we were smaller and we all had this overbearing frustration about not being able to open our door because of the child lock. Well, imagine this on a larger and more permanent scale and you can see how having a handle which does not work is so annoying.
 
Not only is this the case, but if you struggle to get out of your car, then there is the very real  chance that you would not be able to escape during an emergency, which means that your life could be put at risk. Luckily, by investing in replacement excel door handles and understanding a few short steps, you won’t have to worry about it ever again.
 
Step By Step: How to Replace a Door Handle

  1. First, you should make sure that you have the car handle that you wish to install onto your vehicle. You should be aware that you will need to buy one that is specific to your vehicle, as not all handles will work with every car.
  2. You will then need to remove the inner door panel. This can be done by removing any screws that are on the inside. If you cannot remove it, then you will most likely have missed a screw, so you should check carefully. If you’re lucky, you will find that it will be attached with plastic clips rather than screws, as these are much easier to remove.
  3. If your car has any kind of waterproof protection paper, you will need to remove it. If not, you are ready to remove any connections that are around your handle. You should always make sure you know exactly where they have come from before you take them out, as this makes it much easier to put the door back together again.
  4. Next, you should remove the handle from the door, first undoing the bolts so that you can lift it out of place.     Picture by Google images
  5. Once you have done this, you should repeat the steps in reverse order to add the new car door handle to your vehicle. Take your time, as any mistakes could cause problems. It is important that everything goes back to where it came from.
  6. When everything it in place, double check your work and then test the handle. If it doesn’t work, it is likely that something has been put in the wrong place, so go through the previous steps and check again.
